Thoughts on Wings by Uzlo Thoughts on Wings by Uzlo
So, I did a little wing thing (Or, I did this a long time ago but never bothered to upload it). I'm no wing-major, but I thought it was funny to do and that perhaps someone would appreciate it considering how effing difficult it is to draw wings...

So, here's to all of you who care! : D

Mattias, the main model of this little tutorial-thing, is mine. His wings aren't that rainbow-ish (They look like the orange-brownish plumage one of the miniature wingpairs). It's for the sake of clarity!

Enjoy! Or something.

Edit: D....DD? ;___; *tears of Joy* Thank yoooou!

And since everyone ask me, all the time: No, I have not read Maximum ride.

Thoughts on Wings by *AuroraCarina-chan is almost an anatomy class about fantastic winged creatures. Every detail is very well explained and put in a way that is easy to understand. ( Suggested by Raulzito2112 and Featured by shelldevil )

I've been using this reference for I can't remember how long. It has been so useful and it's the first place I go to. Thank you so much for making this.

The whole muscle thing about having the second pectoral muscle and not being able to move the wings forward is why I've always felt it made more sense to have wings placed just above the hips. There's technically much more space there for the extra muscle and the wings have the freedom to move forward. You can't have a tiny waist this way, but it works. It does make for smaller wings though if you don't want them drooping too far down to the ground, which I like aesthetically, but might not actually be as functional really.

I like your study of wings. Often times people stick wings on the characters they draw or paint without consideration for how it looks ad function so they forget to add the skeletal adjustments to the body and how this would affect the person when they walked. Or how the wings  would actually move...

Thank you for the comprehensive analysis.
